CARIADWALNUT

How CariadWalnut got its name

Cariad is a Welsh word meaning 'darling or love' and considering I was born in Wales, UK I thought it would be fitting to pay homage to my heritage and where I came from.

Walnut is the nickname my husband gave me when we first started dating, as there are two halves to a walnut, and we are each other's other half.

So, the altogether meaning of CariadWalnut is 'Darling Other Half', which is what we aim to achieve by breeding English Cocker Spaniels, so that you too, as a future owner, can find your other half.

Our Journey

Hi I'm Adrianne-Joy, AJ for short. I have always had a love for nature and animals since I can remember.

I had my first ever pet when I was 3 years old - a rabbit called 'Toffeenose'.

After moving to Australia from the UK in 2007, with my parents, sister and I had some acreage near Bribie Island on which we bred chickens, ducks and geese. We regularly showed our birds at shows but sadly life had other plans and we moved off the property.

Now, I live with my husband in our beautiful home in the heart of the Scenic Rim with Maze our English Cocker Spaniel girl and a few furrier and feathered animals.

Bringing Maze into our family was a leap Tim and I took early 2022. Our backgrounds in farming and poultry have inspired us to take this venture with the hopes of creating our own bloodline of English Cocker Spaniels built on the ethos of breeding for the future.

We're very passionate about our dogs being an integral part of the family, so much so, they even sleep in our bedroom and occasionally with us in the bed.

I feel it's extremely important to create a strong bond with our dogs and to foster this relationship, I take Maze to training (obedience, scent, agility, rally).

It is a goal of ours to gain an obedience title while also pursuing other competitive dog sports such as agility, tricks, scent and rally.

Having this time where it's just the two of us, focusing on each other, is amazing.
